Cisco Is Bringing Back a Dedicated Wireless Certification Track

Cisco is launching a brand-new, dedicated wireless certification track including CCNP Wireless and CCIE Wireless – starting March 19, 2026. This means that wireless networking will no longer be packaged as part of the Enterprise track but will stand on its own with core and expert credentials. 

This update is a major shift in Cisco’s certification portfolio and reflects how essential wireless technologies like Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7, cloud-managed networks, and automation have become in modern enterprise networking environments. 

Why This Change Matters?

In the past, wireless topics such as RF fundamentals, 802.11 standards, and wireless security were part of the CCNP Enterprise certification as concentration exams. That meant aspiring wireless specialists had to earn an Enterprise certification before specializing.

Starting March 19, 2026:

• Wireless networking gets its own complete track, with CCNP Wireless and CCIE Wireless credentials.
• CCNP Wireless and CCIE Wireless focus exclusively on wireless technologies from design and deployment to optimization and troubleshooting.
• The CCNP Enterprise core exam will no longer include wireless topics, allowing Enterprise to focus on routing, switching, SD-WAN, and other core domains.
