URGENT: FOR CCIE ASPIRANTS WHO HAVE SCHEDULED THEIR LAB EXAMS BEFORE 27TH APRIL 2020
This is to inform students and CCIE aspirants that all the current CCIE lab exams will be available till April 26th 2020 instead of February 24th 2020. The students who were under tremendous pressure to clear their current CCIE lab version exams before February 23rd 2020 have got extension to do so. Cisco has made an announcement to this effect.
Cisco has taken this decision in the light of the spread of the CORONA virus in the mainland China which has affected regional CCIE lab exam centres. CCIE lab exam centres in Hong Kong and Beijing are closed from Feb 1st 2020 to Feb 14th 2020.
This unfortunate outbreak has affected global air-travel which is an essential part of CCIE lab exams. Most of the students have to travel to the lab exam centres in nearby countries to appear for the CCIE lab exam.
Due to the extension, students have got extra two months to schedule and clear their CCIE Lab exams in the current version. From April 27th 2020 onwards, new lab exams will be operational.
Students who were preparing for the new CCIE lab exams to be launched on Feb 24th 2020 will be able to schedule their exam to a date available after 27th April 2020 only. The available slots before 26th 2020 will be used for scheduling CCIE lab exams in the current version. Due to the CORONA virus outbreak, CCIE lab exam transition plan has got affected. All the other Cisco Certification program revamp will go as planned. There are no changes in any of the Cisco certification exams except CCIE labs.

1. I was preparing for the current lab version but was not sure of meeting the deadline of 23rd Feb 2020. Does that mean, I have got 2 additional months to schedule and prepare for the exam without having to worry about the new exam pattern and syllabus?
Answer: That is right. Your efforts will not go in vein. You can schedule for CCIE lab exam in its current version till April 26th 2020.
2. I was preparing for the current CCIE lab exam but was not sure of making it hence have not scheduled my lab exam. Will I get dates for the lab exam before 26th April 2020 to avail this opportunity now?
Answer: Cisco and Pearson VUE testing centres are making sure that the people getting affected by the outbreak get preference. But since the new lab exams are not getting scheduled before 27th April 2020, those slots are available for the conducting current lab exam. You can avoid areas affected directly with the CORONA outbreak and schedule your exam with the centres where dates are available. 3. What will be the qualifier for the CCIE lab during this extension period?
Answer: New core exams will also qualify for the CCIE lab exam during this extension period. Written exams in the current version are also valid for the CCIE lab exam till April 26th 2020. But to make it amply clear, all the CCIE written exams will retire on Feb 24th 2020 as per the original transition plan.
4. I have scheduled my new CCIE lab exam before April 26th 2020. Since this exam will be available only after April 27th 2020, I have to reschedule my lab exam dates?
Answer: Yes. You will have to reschedule the new version lab exam after April 27th 2020 or you can keep the slot and appear for the current version of the lab exam without rescheduling.
5. I have scheduled my current lab exam before 24th Feb 2020. To take advantage of the extension, I want to reschedule my exam closer to April 26th 2020, will I have to pay rescheduling fee?

6. How does the extension of the CCIE lab exams affect the recertification policy?
Answer: Please refer to the Recertification policy that goes into effect on February 24th 2020.
7. Will this extension impact any other Cisco Certification revamp plan?
Answer: No. All the other Cisco Certification Revamp except CCIE labs will go as per scheduled plan on Feb 24th 2020.
